Karl Lagerfeld directs Alice Dellal for the advertising campaign of the Boy Chanel handbag collection in a short film entitled “My New Friend Boy.”

The looks on the catwalk are translated into surprising combinations, which include a mix of fit and oversized lines to create drama on the runway.The touch of contradiction is demonstrated through the use of tromple l´oëil effects, thus painting and insinuating the feminine silhouette through strategic cuts symbolizing freshness and freedom.

This season’s key fabric is wool, crafted in different ways. Like graphic boiled wool or cut-off wool mimicking tectonic plaques on embroidered fabrics. The designer also presented perforated wools as a base for pieces revealing what is underneath, and wool cut in small geometric shapes that create ironic animal figures. Other important elements for this season are metallic colors and tricot pieces with high-quality materials. Color is a key player with shades of green, red, brown, ocher and gray dominate the color palette. Each color becomes a symbol on the catwalk, transmitting Custo’s energetic and sophisticated personality.

Born and raised in Japen, Tadashi drew his inspiartion from neighbor China, inspired by” Golden age of Shanghai”, taking the audience to the glamorous 1930s.  Everything is elegant and just the right amount of sexiness. Of course he didn’t forget what he is known for, his technique with prints and he used it in floral prints of that era.

A full skirt silk tulle ballgown with gold-and-black lace bodice caught my eyes. Another red velvet dress with cowl back filled with black beading told me the story of Shanghai. Lastly, he sent out a stunning black velvet gown with sexy high neck line and sheer beaded lace. We know what we can expect to see on red carpet soon.

The brand is also planning to open 2 stores in Beijing and Shanghai this year.

There’s 46 completely unique hand-made variations using precious materials such as crocodile, ostrich, tejus lizard and python are intricately combined with lurex jacquard and sablè, patch brocade, linen and glitter.

First, Madonna wore a gold cape all over hand-embroidered with gold metal cut out pieces, studs, crystals, sequins and paillettes, lined in leopard-print chiffon by Givenchy.

Second look, she wore a black mini dress in silk cady, worn with leopard print short cape in silk charmeuse hand-embroidered with gold metal cut out pieces, studs, crystals, sequins and paillettes and a black python hand-studded and hand-embroidered belt with its removable matching flaps (all by Givenchy.)

The thigh high boots with gold metal buckle closures were made from stretch nappa leather by Miu Miu.

The third look, Madonna wore a black coat in silk cady hand-embroidered with shiny black rectangular sequins and micro pearls by Givenchy.

Apparently, the costume works well with the theme of show.

And our conclusion is we would love to see more high fashion in Super Bowl performance in the future!

Models wore oversized earrings and elaborate nose rings. Heavily beaded crystals were placed over the silk gowns.

A chocolate brown crocodile long dress shows workmanship of Givenchy atelier with handling precious animal skin. Crocodile was cut by scales and carefully reassembled, lastly sewn by hand onto silk tulle. It literally took 350 hours and the dress is beautifully done! You only see this kind of time-consuming and labor-intensive crafts in haute couture.

The Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection is romantic, feminine and sophisticated. You see the couture details from the beaded flowers, sequins and laces. The floral print chiffon ball gown is definitely a statement for spring. A small touch of using crocodile as a sleeves top and pencil skirt certainly adds some characters into the softness, it’s just so chic!
